this week

Ok so this week I WILL lose more than 1 lb.
I will break this stall.
I have all my tools and I’m ready to go!

I will NOT get upset

it seems my weight loss has slowed down to 1lb a week.
which they say is a good amount to lose 1-2lbs a week.
i am running 3/4 a mile and walking 1/4 a mile 3x a week.
I have cut back on fats and calories and carbs
following the south beach phase 1 to a T..
but only 1 lb a week.

I know at least 1lb is a loss.
and 1lb is a lot.
I’m greatful I am losing and not gaining.

I don’t want to let my team down.
I don’t want to let msyelf down.
But in my heart I know I am giving it all I have.
I will try to get back into strength training but slow.
Had a hysterectomy and my gall bladder removed in early May so I know it will take time.
I have been released to work out and weight lift but sometimes with the weights I feel
pulling. The muscles around my insicion (internal) from the gall bladder surgery and
in my abdomen from hysterectomy, are still tender when i contract them.
it’s common from what I’m reading.

But I won’t give up.
I’ll get there.

this week

this week has been good.
i ate great
but due to time constraints and schedules of my husband’s and mine..
we only got in 2 days at the gym..
so I only ran/walked 4 miles this week.

I hope to do more this coming week.
I only lost 1 lb but they say 1 lb a week is good.
I’d prefer 2-3 but they also say the last 20 is hardest.
I hope to lose more than 20 but 20 (a little less than actually)
would put me at pre-pregnancy weight.
well that is what I weighed before child 2.
Before child 1 i was 115 but also in my 20s..sooo I probably won’t see that..lol
But I can try.
I’m really short so this won’t be skin and bones on me..115.
I am 5′3″ actually more like 5′ 2 3/4 inches.

my goals for this coming week:

~eat phase 1 south beach
~get to the gym at least 3x this week, work up to running the whole mile
~do weight training w/ hand weights at home in the a.m. when my son naps instead of internet.
~get in more water and less coffee.
~resist the leftover birthday cake in the fridge from my hubby’s bday.
~no stress eating..i’ll be watching a newborn and my 1 year old..and getting things ready for my daugther’s first day at middle school. (YIKES!)

that’s about it..i’m sure i’ll face challenges during the week.
one good thing..my husband only has his snack foods here I don’t like so I won’t have to do much resisting.
and we have fridge full of produce so I’m all good!

Food Journal

I have such a hard time using it.
I can NEVER find the right thing..calorie counts are always different than what my package says.
So I have kept a paper one in my kitchen.
But one thing I have noticed..for being a diet site..
there sure A LOT of junk foods and fast foods listed to chose from.
So that leads me to believe that users enter in those foods into the database.
So I’m wondering…why be a part of a diet community site if you are eating those things??
isn’t the point of dieting NOT to eat a big mac and fries?
So why is it an option in the database of the food journal?
just my random, early morning, pre coffee musings.
forgive me..lol

let me introduce myself…

I just realized most people don’t know much about me here..
there is a lot to know but I’ll jot down the key points..bullet style..

  • 31 years old, birthday coming in dec.
  • mom to 2 kids, 10yo girl (11 in Nov.) and an 18mo boy (Feb will be 2)
  • married to a great man since june 2003
  • he’s not my daughter’s father, her dad left me multiple times for other women but due to low self image i took him back over and over..
    until the day I actually realized I deserved better…at that time I weighed 210 Feb 2002
  • i left him and focused on myself and my daughter, dropping down to 190 march 2002
  • met my husband and didn’t focus on weight until he proposed..
  • dropped down to 170 by wedding june 2003
  • comfy married life went back to 190.
  • started atkins 2004
  • dropped to 140 after wedding..got pregnant w/ son
  • went back to 200.
  • went down to 160
  • found out i had cervical cancer, went through a hysterectomy in March
  • back to 180 due to bedrest.
  • no more cancer so i can focus on my health and weight starting May
  • down to 158 as of now.

sorry if that is all over the place..
just shows my weight ups and downs and why..
now i’m hoping for nothing else to happen to cause it to go up! lol

goals for this week..extended..

run 3x a week
do challenges
drink more water
make it to the pool as much as possible with my kids
finish school shopping
go to produce stand and get restocked!
support and cheer my fellow BEES!!

I’m also planning on trying this recipe:

Black Bean Brownies (TRIED AND TRUE)

Preheat Oven: 350
Cooking Time: 40

1 15oz. can of UNSEASONED black beans - drained and rinsed
OR 1 1/4 cup cooked beans of any color
4 eggs (extra large)
1 cup Splenda
3 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. oil (I use olive oil- 2 FULL Tablespoons)
1 Tbs Vanilla (FULL Tablespoon)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup ricotta cheese or low-fat cream cheese
chopped nuts - optional (I used chopped walnuts)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients in a food processor or blender- blend very, very well.
Pour into an 8×8 baking pan sprayed with cooking spray or oiled with canola or olive oil.
Bake for 30-40 minutes. (til toothpick pulls out clean)

a new low

I am now 155lbs
I haven’t seen this low since before I got pregnant w/ my 2nd child..
so over a year of struggling to finally get here.
This makes me super motivated at the thought I just might make my
pre-pregnancy goal of 140lbs and maybe lower!
only 5 lbs away from my 1st mini goal!!
I can do that in about 2 weeks or less if I keep it up!
we are running and I’m eating very low fat low glycemic foods
and staying active during the day.
busy day today and tomorrow..

BUZZ BUZZ!

the worker bees..

well I’m a member of The Worker Bees.
we had our weigh in on saturday..i weighed 158lbs.
Now see i said WEIGHED?
well i got on the scale this morning since I was VERY active saturday and sunday
and ate very good, mostly all veggies..drank TONS of water..
well I dropped 2lbs since saturday morning..so I hope by the end of this week
i’ll have reached my mini goal of 150lbs.
then I’ll only be 10lbs away from my prepregnancy weight, which is my next mini goal.
I hope if hubby and I continue running 3x a week and I do the challenges in the morning and then
in the late afternoon, I’ll do ok.
I have all Hubby’s snacks packed into a cabinet..on the inside of the cabinet is a pic of me at my highest weight..
so when I open (which I haven’t) I will see it and it will make me shut it..lol
well that’s about all for my check in..
we had internet issues…still iffy sometimes.
cable goes in and out on account of the t-storms.

we ran!

beginning of last post I mentioned my hubby mentioned he
wanted to start running..
see the one before this for reference.
he bought us new running shoes.
he bought him some shorts, since all he has is jeans.
I thought ok good start.
he looked at mp3 players for him ( i have one)
so I though ok if he’s gonna drop money on stuff..
he’s serious about running..

we ran! yeah!! 20 min

ran for 1 min.
we only walked for about 1 min.
then ran 1min
etc etc.
this is a great first step!

I’m so proud of us!

now let’s see if we keep it up.
next scheduled time is sunday.

it was great..i would start running after he said he’s just gonna walk.
guess i helped push him to run more..male ego and all..
can’t have his fat wife outrun him.

I’m so excited…

I am so flippin’ excited..
about last night.
no, not that.
hubby and I were watching tv in bed, reclined..
he patted his belly and said something I NEVER thought I’d hear coming out
of this sweet man’s mouth.
“I think I shoulds start running with you at night”

Whaaa? this coming from a man that is allergic to sweat I always thought.
He hates to even walk anywhere.

“yeah, smoking was what was holding me back and now I don’t smoke,
I think we should run”

wow. I told him not to say it if it weren’t true..and he didn’t know how happy
that  made me to hear.
I mean we could put Dink to bed at 8pm as usual.
Baby girl could watch him..I mean how long would we really be?
20min to half hour at the longest.
we could run/walk/run/walk
because frankly both of us are beginner runners..

This makes me super excited because not only do we
get alone time doing an activity together…
I can finally have support at home!

I am not counting my chickens before they run though..
we’ll see..
but the thought is out there..
he said we’d go get running shoes
and he’d buy us new outfits..
I just looked at him and he said,
“don’t worry..they won’t match”
